Scholarship Program Overview
To remain in the Holy Land and prosper, four things are critical for the remaining Christian population: Housing, Healthcare, Employment, and Education. Education is the key that can unlock all four.
In 2009, the Raymond Davis Foundation began supporting Christian denominations in the Holy Land with scholarships to High School, Trade School, and College students, enabling them to attend Christian educational institutions. Scholarships are offered at a wide variety of church-affiliated schools in line with our ecumenical tradition.
Sponsors can choose to support a student either by name or anonymously, and scholarships typically cover multiple years for stability (normally four years for high school / university students, or two years for trade school students). Sponsors commit to funding one year at a time but agree to support the student throughout their entire education.
Scholarships can be supported by individuals, cohorts of individuals (i.e. consortiums), churches, or organizations, to provide all or part of a student’s scholarship.
Currently the scholarship program supports students at two Universities, eleven High Schools, and one Trade School. Cost per student per year ranges from $1,100 to $4,100 depending on the school and level of education.
Scholarship FAQ
What is the Scholarship Program Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)?
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is a written agreement between the General Raymond G. Davis Templar Foundation, and an individual or organization who desires to provide scholarship support to an individual student. The MOU lists the name of the party who is providing scholarship support, the name and school of the student being supported, and cost and duration of the scholarship. View blank MOU form.
The MOU is prepared by the Scholarship Program Co-Chair and is sent to the party providing support for them to sign and return. A copy of the agreement is also shared with the RDF Bookkeeping firm, Adams Financial, for invoicing purposes and tracking of the scholarship payments.
How are payments made for the Scholarship Program?
Invoices are created and sent by the bookkeeping firm Adams Financial on a regular basis based upon the desire and schedule of the party providing the scholarship support. Payments can be made electronically or by check, and can be scheduled at monthly, quarterly, or annual payment timelines.
If the party providing support wishes to pay by credit card a 3.5% processing fee is added to the amount of the payment to cover the additional charge assessed to RDF.
How can I split my support into a consortium of members?
The cost to support a student can be shared between multiple parties. If there is a desire to form a “Consortium” (group of 3 or less) individual MOUs are created for each party, and each party will receive the regularly scheduled invoices for their level of identified support for the student. If a “Group” (4 or more) desire to support a student scholarship, the group will need to appoint a designated party to serve as the primary point of contact and who will be responsible for coordinating the payment(s) from each of the parties within the group who wish to participate in the scholarship, as well as be the party to which the MOU and Invoice(s) will be sent to.
