Our Mission
The principal purpose of the Raymond Davis Foundation is to promote education, healthcare, and civil society in areas of the Holy Land and Middle East where there are Christians who seek better lives for their families and communities. Our donor-based humanitarian programs are designed to help Christian families not just remain and survive in the Holy Land, but flourish.
Our Challenge
A Climate of Uncertainty
Less than 2% of the Holy Land population today is Christian. Raw political and cultural differences abound and economic hardships are rampant. Within this setting of ethnic distrust and routine persecution, the remaining Christian community is caught in the middle, with hundreds of families moving away each year.
These societal challenges and stresses were prevalent well before the war which, though focused on Gaza, has deeply restricted mobility within the West Bank, eliminated religious tourism which is the lifeblood of much of the remaining Christian community, crumbled the overall economy and laid waste to life generally. They were prevalent well before the global pandemic which preceded the war, and our mission was of grave concern even then. Conditions have only grown more dire over the past several years.
Our Approach
Providing Direct Support
Our direct support to Christian institutions keeps their services and thus the Christian presence and influence of key importance in the Holy Land. Our educational scholarships provide hope and opportunity, enabling young Christians and their families to secure employment, housing and healthcare and thus remain in the Land of Christ.
Our Vision
Christian Stability in the Holy Land
We seek to sustain the Christian community as a secure and vital presence in their homeland, where they simultaneously are “caught in the crossfire” and are also a tremendously valuable component of the larger society. As one Bishop has stated, they are “the salt in the stew”. We endeavor to empower them to remain there.
